“Turn your ear toward me…”
Psalm 31:2
No amount of money could buy it.
No amount of service could earn it.
But a heart “completely his” receives the attention of the God of the universe.
“For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.” 2 Chronicles 16:9
How do we get God’s ear to go deaf toward us?
He says,
“If I had cherished iniquity in my heart, the Lord would not have listened.”
Psalm 66:18
The relationship between our ears and God’s must remain an open gate.
If we close our ears, like a teasing child- “la, la, la! I can’t hear you!”
When God is lovingly discipling us,
He is not a respecter of persons.
“Ok then.” I imagine God replies,
“Come to me when you’re ready to listen.”
We must crave His voice above every other sweet talking, self fulfilling, self pleasing one.
Was it not the enemy’s voice who Eve reasoned with, which convinced her to do the very thing God had forbid?
“But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear.”
Isaiah 59:2
Loosing the ear of God is losing your only treasure.
What isn’t worth a direct line of contact with the creator of existence?
And the very idea that He would bend down to listen to a human being…
it is too incredible to understand.
“Before they call I will answer; while they are yet speaking I will hear.”
Isaiah 65:24
The reality is we don’t need to utter a sound. God hears our thoughts before we speak them.
Are we listening to Him as intently?
Do we pay Him the same attention?
“Speak Lord, your servant is listening.”
1 Samuel 3:10
If we want God’s ear, we don’t need to work, or beg, or cry.
We need to have ours opened.
And maintain a heart that is completely His.
Stay godly
